Darwin Núñez didn't score against Rangers, and I saw one headline label him "wasteful". To me, that was nonsense. He forced a number of good saves – one very good, and one outstanding.
To me, aside from "all-round game" aspects of his play, the most important thing for any striker is not the conversation rate (this will vary wildly for any player throughout a season, and season to season), nor the number of shots taken (as they could be punts from 35 years), but the number of times he can find himself in goalscoring situations.
Is he dangerous? Is he getting in there? Often, the rest can follow.
(Okay, to be more precise, the aim of any player on the pitch is to help win the game.)
But as I will go on to explain, there’s a lot to admire.
