Well, when I originally planned to do various positives for this ZenDen Substack I wasn't expecting the Reds to be quite so bad. And it was a grim, grim first 20 minutes yesterday against Brighton. Just as it was a grim, grim display in Naples.
Still, it'll help me to lift my own mood to focus on some positives, after I laid out plenty of the issues and concerns in the post-match piece on the TTT Main Hub.
1. Roberto Firmino scored five league goals in 20 appearances last season. He now has five in just six league games this season, but only 4.5 games in terms of time spent on the pitch. He also has a hat-trick of assists. He’s remembered how to score goals at Anfield, and then some. And here he led a spirited comeback, with two lovely finishes. As I wrote last night, he's an example of a player in his 30s who can still offer a lot as an individual (and someone I'd always felt could get better with age, as he's never been about pace). But the team needs some fresh legs, too.
