Curtis Jones: From Raggedy Rough Diamond to Pure Polished Gem
Truly unique talent, and now making his mark
I've previously raved about how Alexander-Arnold transformed from a once great attacking full-back having a so-so season to all-conquering roving quarterback-cum-tackler-cum-no.10, in a role I'll call the quasi-6, but which defies simple definition.
But Curtis Jones, 22, has perhaps become one of the most interesting players Liverpool have ever had; possibly the hardest to define, having played in so many positions since being part of Steven Gerrard's U18 side, and adding a new string to his bow every time you see him play.
It's great to see, and intriguing to try and fathom him out. I never understood those who got in his back, at such a young age, but I also didn't see him being the player he has become.
Indeed, in this piece I also look back at one U19 game in 2019, when Jones was outstanding; and how so many of the Reds' players that day have 'made it' in the game.
